Clark Boxes and Other Lure Containers

Clark Water Scouts and other Clark baits came in a variety of containers. The most recognized of these is the green and white cardboard boxes pictured here. It is believed that the design of these boxes changed over the years for several reasons. An all white box with "Clark's Water Scout" hand-stamped on top is believed to be the earliest Clark box. This would date it to the early to mid 30's.

A similar, plain cardboard box reappeared in the late 40's to early 50's. Several all plastic boxes appeared in the 50's. The celluloid container in the center of the picture was offered for a small additional charge and was handy for carrying additional baits either in a tackle box or pocket.

A chronological history of Clark boxes utilization can be found in a study by Jim Bourdon and Ray Barzee entitled, "Clark Water Scouts and other Clark Baits".
