The trademark of the Clark Water Scout series of baits is of course, the "keel". Clark designed this shark-tooth shaped keel assembly for two main reasons. First, it kept the scout running true in swift currents and secondly, it was adjustable and could be moved forward or backwards to create different movement. By moving the keel rearward, the lure has a wider stroke and by moving the keel forward, it gives the bait a sharp, fast stroke. Also, by moving the keel forward and removing the front hook, a practically weedless bait is provided without sacrificing performance.
