The "Streamliners"

The model #800, Streamliners, sinker, were first produced around 1948 and are made of tenite (plastic). These scout-type plastic lures were used by Clark for promotional purposes and could be ordered with your company name or anything you were willing to pay for. This black shore example is without any promotional detailing. Little Eddie versions and duckbill versions of the Streamliner were also produced by Clark. These were regular production models simply imprinted with company advertising. I believe the name comes from the streamlining of the lure itself as the sides are flattened giving the lure a much thinner look than the original Water Scout. Most in this style were approximately 2 1/8" long, weighing 7/16 oz.

Other baits made by the Clark Co. were also used as promotional lures. Please click on the link below for several examples . These duckbills feature a "leaking faucet" and were undoubtedly made for a local plumbing company.(from the collection of Mike Presley)
